Shrek, Gingy
Genevieve spent a lot of the 2020 pandemic watching Shrek the Musical on Netflix, and so she was very pleased to learn her theater had chosen to do the show the following year. She set her heart on the prize and won the part her weirdest self had always wanted—Gingy.
She made the audience laugh as she panicked and was tortured by Farquad. She added special Genevieve sauce with a colorful interpretation of every line. If you want to crack up, ask her to say, “hot, boiling, lava.”
And she had everyone rapt when she yelled, “Listen up puppet!” and blew us away with her solo in Freak Flag. This part is one for the memory books. There’s nothing quite like a part that gets a laugh at every line.
